SCHOOL ENTERPRISE CHALLENGE – 1
VERMI – G
- It is a project to convert kitchen waste of the school mess into wealthy organic manure. The students successfully run the project building vermicompost pit taking guidance and technical know-how from the EXNORA. Children generated organic manure which not only helps the soil from depletion due to use of chemical fertilizers but also help people in and around the school in developing their kitchen garden for healthier consumption. It became part time and extra income for the helpers and those who run sale of organic vegetables.
- The school was certified for its contribution to entrepreneurship in education for the year 2015. The Vermi-G has taken the business to the second level by engaging in terrace farming using the organic manure produced. The Vermi-G team also made the initiative- plant Ganesha which were clay moulds of ganesha with seeds of tulsi and flowering plants inside which when kept in pot and watered would turn into a plant. It was put to sale and there were a good number of parents and locals who supported our idea and purchased the idols.
